Away in a bunkbed, no crib for a bed,
The little boy Pryor laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he dreams,
The little boy Pryor asleep in the sheets.

The Buckeye is leering, the baby awakes,
But little boy Pryor no crying he makes.
I love thee, boy Pryor, the Buckeye does sigh
And stay by my bedside til morning is nigh.

Be near me, boy Pryor, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in my tender I will take,
And keep me from prison, to show you my stake.
